When Brad graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln he had already spent over half of his life around planes. His first job out of college was with the company formally known as King Radio, which was still owned and operated by industry icon Ed King. The company is now Allied Signal Aerospace Group, where over his ten years with the company Brad became Director of OEM sales. In 1991, when Brad and his wife Melanie already had one child, Cassie, and another on the way, he felt the time was right to take an opportunity at a larger company. He saw that opportunity in aircraft sales. moved the family to Wichita, Kansas, where he took a job as Director of Domestic Beech Dealers for the company formerly known as Beechcraft. Brad would spend the next 17 years with the company where he eventually became President of Commercial Aircraft.
In the meantime, Willis went back to work for Des Moines Flying service and moved back to Fremont, Nebraska where the family owned a house on Woodcliff Lake. Willis ran the Fremont office until he passed away in March of 2007.
At the time of his father’s passing Brad was well on his way to becoming the trusted aviation professional that he is today.
Check back next week for a more in-depth look into Brad’s career in business aviation and how Hatt & Associates came to be.
